Sports Injuries Treatment
Whether you’re a competitive athlete, a weekend runner, a gym enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys staying active, injuries can be frustrating and disruptive. Sports injuries can occur suddenly following trauma, or develop gradually through overuse, repetitive strain, poor recovery, or changes in training load.
Common sports injuries include muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendon injuries, joint pain, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, runner’s knee, shin splints, shoulder injuries, tennis elbow, and lower back pain. We also frequently see injuries related to running, cycling, strength training, team sports, and recreational activities.
Your osteopath or sports therapist will carry out a detailed assessment to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms. This may include examining joint mobility, muscle strength, movement patterns, flexibility, balance, and sport-specific demands.
Treatment is tailored to the individual and may include hands-on therapy, sports massage, rehabilitation exercises, strength and conditioning advice, movement retraining, and return-to-sport planning where appropriate. Our aim is not only to help you recover from your injury but also to reduce the risk of it returning.
Sports Taping & Support
Sports taping and kinesiology taping may be used as part of your treatment plan where appropriate. Some patients find taping provides additional support and confidence during activity, and help manage symptoms while rehabilitation is underway.
Taping is commonly used alongside treatment and rehabilitation for conditions such as:
• Achilles tendon pain
• Plantar fasciitis
• Runner’s knee and patellofemoral pain
• Ankle sprains
• Shoulder injuries
• Tennis and golfer’s elbow
• Lower back pain
• Muscle strains
• Sports related overuse injuries
Our focus is always on identifying and addressing the underlying cause of injury, with taping used as one of many tools to support recovery.
